Tell Phil Woodman: Stop Union Busting! | | 4/4/2008 12:00:00 AM
Dear Members
Please take a moment to sign the petition telling Phil Woodman that union busting will not be tolerated in this community. Tell him to negotiate a fair contact and invest in the workforce that makes his stores "better" -- as he touts in TV ads.
Woodman has engaged a Vermont-based union-busting law firm to deny his workers the benefits of union representation which they have enjoyed for over thirty years.
Last year, "consultants" from Grubb, Quist & Associates began interviewing department supervisors in an effort find employees to circulate a petition to decertify the union, and help with the company's anti-union campaign.
UFCW Local 1473 complained to the National Labor Relations Board after learning that Woodman's misled and coerced workers into signing the petition. Seeing that their first attempt is likely to fail, the union busters have now begun a second petition drive.
Woodman's has been conducting captive audience meetings encouraging their employees to decertify their union – while Phil Woodman denies all of this to the media.

Phil Woodman: Take the money spent on union-busting attorneys and cut your losses, sooner rather than later. Take that money and invest it in the people who make your company "better," as your commercial claims. Your employees, your customers, their neighbors, friends and families - we all know that union jobs are the foundation of our community's prosperity.
